Fellatio 101: How to give a guy a blowjob

August 30th, 2010

Oral Sex on guys is often known as Fellatio, but it is more commonly called a blow-job. Fellatio involves exciting the male genitals primarily by using the mouth, lips and tongue. Blow-jobs just aren’t for men’s pleasure. That’s right – many women say that the feeling of control it gives them, combined with the oral stimulation is a turn-on all on its own.

Here is a quick review of the male anatomy: the head of the penis is called the Glans – it looks kind of like a mushroom cap; the Frenulum is on the underside of the penis – a lot of people call it the cord – it’s kind of like a little strip there that connects the “V” to the shaft of the penis and it is typically considered the most sensitive part of the penis for most guys; the very tip of the penis is the Urethra which is where the urine passes which also a really sensitive part; the Shaft is the rest of the length of the penis; the Perineum is the area between where the testicles end and the anus starts – a lot of people call that the ‘tween’ or the ‘taint’. Another thing to be aware of is the Testicles themselves and the Scrotal Sac which is what houses the Testicles and that is where the sperm is made and stored for ejaculation. So those are the main parts that you need to know about for the guy.

For starters, most people want to begin with some up and down stimulation with suction. If you are the giver, find a comfortable position and remember that enthusiasm trumps technique just about every time. So you have a chance to fake it until you make it! The more you enjoy giving oral sex to your man, the more he enjoys receiving it and the more fun it is for everybody. You can practice before-hand on a dildo like the All American Whopper. It has a suction cup base so you can stick it to any flat surface at any angle to simulate giving oral sex to your partner. Practice makes perfect!

Begin by teasing the penis a little by kissing it, breathing lightly on it and tickling it. Ask him how he wants to be stimulated – does he liked to be sucked gently, does he like it hard, slow, fast, deep, etc. You want to create a vacuum by pursing your lips and using them to surround the penis. Thrust your mouth down over the penis while you suck. You can use saliva as a lubricant or you can use a flavored lubricant to make the experience more pleasant and palatable.

Stroke up and down with your hand while you are sucking. Use your hands as an extension of your mouth. That way you don’t have to work as hard. Experiment a little and add a gentle twist of your hand as you move it up and down the shaft and continue to suck. Switch hands occasionally for variation because it gives it a whole different feel – especially if it is your non-dominate hand.  It will actually give it a little unusual rhythm if it is your non-dominate hand.  Change your stroking rhythm from long and slow to short and fast and everything in-between. What you don’t want to do is change the rhythm just before he climaxes unless he asks you to. Communication is so important and can add to your enjoyment so much more.

Beyond sucking, you can do some more tricks – you can lick by running your tongue around the glans – the mushroom cap area. Then, focus on the frenulum which is that ‘cord’ on the back of the penis. You can flick your tongue back and forth across the frenulum, all around, or right at the tip of the penis – side to side across the urethral opening. Just a gentle flick or lick there can be very enticing for him. You can use your hand to fondle, alternating this time. Feel free to nibble and linger anywhere he likes it. Generally you can tell if he likes it because he makes those happy noises.  Really, really try not to use your teeth. That is probably the biggest turn-off for oral pleasure on guys. It can also be uncomfortable too.

There is more to a penis than meets the eye.  His scrotum and testicles also enjoy stimulation.  You can gently massage them or you can put them in your mouth and give them a little lick, suck or stimulation. You can run your tongue along the Perineum towards the anus. Be sure to take proper safety precautions when playing around the anal area to prevent contamination.  You should use a dental dam or a slice of condom with a little lube on both sides and lay it over the area. This will protect you against any kind of bacteria that should not be in your mouth normally and also give him the pleasure that he will probably really enjoy. So massaging any of those areas while stimulating the shaft of the penis is generally very, very pleasurable for him.

Now the big question: spit or swallow? Well, it’s your decision, of course. Some people do like to take the ejaculate into their mouth while others like to watch it while it comes out. Both of them can be very sexy. If you do choose to take it in your mouth, you can swallow or you can keep a napkin or cloth nearby for your comfort.  Some people like a “catch and release” method where he cums in your mouth but then you let it slowly run back out onto the penis. That is a whole different sensation for both of you also, and some people really find that to be a turn-on. Know your partner and make choices that work for both of you. Important safety tip – if you decide to swallow during oral sex, make sure you know your partner is not HIV positive because it has been known to transmit the virus. In this situation, make sure your partner wears a condom during oral sex. Put a little lube on the inside of the condom for better sensation for him.

Here are some advanced tips for you… Take a deep breath before you take the penis into your mouth – it will help relax your throat muscles and helps prevent the gagging. If you think his penis is going to touch the back of your throat, concentrate on relaxing, and also use your hand around the base of the penis to control the amount the he goes into your mouth. The less that you have to take in, the easier it is for you most of the time. Try swallowing when his penis reaches the back of your throat. It kind of tickles, but it makes it a little easier if that is something that you want to engage in.

You can try a little trick where you put the penis in the side of the mouth between the teeth and the cheek. That prevents stimulating that gag reflex and is more palatable for a lot of people. This is kind of unpleasant – but getting pubic hairs in your mouth is common. Don’t worry about it, just stop for a minute and take them out and keep on going.

You can try other little tricks like inserting a finger inside a condom and inserting it inside the anus, massaging around the area or stimulating his prostate during oral sex. Don’t do this without talking to your partner first. Make sure you have plenty of lube because it needs to be lubricated since there is no natural lubrication in that area. Many men find a lot of additional pleasure stimulating that prostate.  It is located about 2 inches inside the anal area pointing toward the back of the belly button from inside the anal canal. Giving him a little gentle, rhythmic massage there especially during oral stimulation is usually a lot of fun.

For a different kind of thrill you can put an ice cube inside your mouth or a mint for a little extra stimulation. Consider stimulating his inner thighs as your mouth moves on his shaft – it is a little bit of a different feel.

Have fun experimenting and trying some of these tips and techniques! Find out what works best for you and your partner.

Pheromones: Increase your sex appeal!

July 28th, 2010
Pheromone Massage Oil

Pheromone Massage Oil: Cucumber Melon, Citrus Basil or Ginger Lime

Do you ever wish you had that extra edge that would help make you somehow more interesting, extra exciting, and completely enticing to others? Pheromones just might be the answer!

Pheromones are a naturally occurring chemical compound found in insects, animals and humans. When pheromones are secreted, they dictate sexual behavior. In the animal kingdom, they generally signal the start of the mating ritual. We’re sure everyone has witnessed the power of a female dog in heat. Their pheromones can attract a male dog from over a mile away!

Recently, researchers at the University of Chicago say they got their first actual proof that humans produce and react to pheromones. Their findings, published in the Journal of Nature, say that female ovulation can be made longer or shorter through the use of pheromones.

The majority of human pheromones come out through our sweat. This is probably not the most desireable way to meet a new date, however. Also, it’s probably not much fun with your mate either. It is kind of ironic that when we shower, we clean off our own natural pheromones and then we put on deodorant and mask the natural pheromones that our bodies create. So our own natural pheromones are low. Since our body only secrets small amounts of pheromones at a time, there is a real big advantage to using bath and body products that are enhanced with pheromones such as Pheromone Massage Lotion, Pheromone Massage Oil or Pure Instinct Sexual Attraction Cologne (also known as Basic Instinct). This can give you that extra sexual allure that you’ve been searching for.

Pheromones can also be responsible for boosting careers. Wearing them can subconsciously help people around you perceive you as someone exuding tremendous confidence. The more confident you are or the more confident you’re perceived to be, the more successful you’ll be in both your career and personal life. There are many people in service-related fields that swear that wearing the pheromones helps to increase their tips.

To sum it up – pheromones can help you get more eye contact and smiles and others can find you instantly more attractive. People may feel more at ease and relaxed with you. You might notice that more people are paying attention to you when you wear your pheromones. Strangers might start conversations with you. You could increase the chances of getting a date with that special someone or have an instant chemistry on a blind date when you’re wearing your pheromones. Don’t be surprised if people stare at you when you’re wearing them. Strangers may think they know you and may even try to get closer and get a sniff of you! So be sure to wear a smile and have some fun!

Sex Toy Materials: How to choose, clean and what lube to use

There are many materials that go into adult sex toys, but there are just a few categories that they fall into:

  • Rubber or Latex
  • Silicone
  • Blends
  • Hard Materials

We’re going to give you an overview of the sex toy materials, but the most important thing we want you to understand is the difference between porous and non-porous.

Porous toys have pores in them. It’s similar to the pores on our skin. When the porous toys get wet or when they are used, viruses, bacteria or anything that is on the surface or the toy goes into those pores. The next time that toy gets wet, the virus, bacteria, etc. comes back out again. The reason we recommend toy cleaners for sex toys, particularly porous toys, is because the toy cleaners will remove the bacteria, yeast, and viruses and prevent them from getting into your toy.  When you use the toy cleaner, it rinses completely from the toy. An added benefit for the ladies is the toy cleaner helps maintain a pH balance in the vaginal area.  When the pH gets out of balance in the vaginal area, women can get an infection or irritation.

Let’s examine the different types of adult sex toy materials:

Rubber Slim Butt Plug

  • Rubber – Rubber is a porous material and it doesn’t contain phthalates. Rubber is generally firm and flexible and it is often heavy. Rubber dildos are porous and they need more care because they are porous. That means they are a little harder to clean and maintain. Most rubber is produced using petroleum. However, some (estimated around 25%-33%) are made from Latex, which is extracted from trees, or a latex-like product.  Each of the two sources produces a different type of rubber with different properties. Polymers, which are large molecules made from petroleum, make up synthetic rubbers. Natural rubbers are made from elastic latex. During WWII, the U.S.’ natural rubber supplies were largely cut-off. So there was a need for a commodity to change and it encouraged serious experimentation to produce synthetic rubbers. While synthetics still predominate, natural rubber is very desirable for many applications because it has a greater resilience. When using a rubber or latex adult toy, we recommend only using a water-based lubricant.  This is because any oil or petroleum-based substances are going to break down the rubber or latex. That means all oil-based lubricants – including massage oils, butter, olive oil, Vaseline – anything containing oil. Silicone lubricants are okay to use as long as you’re certain that the toy doesn’t contain any silicone. To be on the safe side, we recommend only using water-based lubes with rubber or latex toys.To clean your rubber or latex toys, wash before and after use with an adult sex toy cleaner, rinse with warm water and air or pat dry. Using a condom on the toy allows for easier clean up.  It puts a barrier between you and the toy and prevents the toy from picking up anything from you or the environment. You can take the condom off and clean the toy much easier. If the toy is battery operated, do not submerge the toy unless it is waterproof. If the toy is not waterproof, make sure not to get water in the battery compartment. Use the spritz and rinse method – spritz the cleaner on the part of the toy that you want to clean and rinse it off. Use a damp cloth to clean the outside of the battery compartment.

To store your toys after they are dry, put the toys in individual sex toy storage bags for the best results and to prevent them from melting together. Also, remember to remove the batteries before storage.

Latex is very porous, and does not contain phthalates, but a lot of people are sensitive to latex and many people are allergic to it.  So it’s important to know which materials could contain latex.

If you share toys with a partner, make sure you use a condom on the toy and change the condom before allowing your partner to use the toy.

  • Silicone – Silicone is non-porous (make sure it is 100% pure medical grade silicone). It warms up very quickly and retains body heat. It minimizes infection potential because it is non-porous. Medical grade silicone is firm to the touch and it is considered to be hypoallergenic. Silicone doesn’t have a taste or a smell. Appealing, brightly colored toys can be created with silicone.  Silicone is phthalate-free. Phthalates are chemicals used to soften plastic or vinyl to make it more flexible. They are used in many everyday applications from sex toys to fingernail polish to foods, perfumes and medical instruments. Phthalates raise some concern on safety so some people try to avoid toys that contain phthalates.Vibration transfers very well through silicone and silicone-blends. This is another reason why it is an excellent choice for a sex toy.  Silicone falls into the ‘better materials’ category which generally means that it is going to cost you more to purchase toys that are made of silicone. Many people find the higher price worthwhile because silicone has a longer lifespan, it is more comfortable to use, and pure silicone is much easier to clean.Only water-based lubricants are recommended for use with silicone sex toys. Using a silicone lubricant on a silicone or silicone-blend toy can ruin the surface of the toy and cause it to become tacky/sticky feeling. To clean your silicone toy, make sure you clean it before and after use with a toy cleaner to prevent contamination and maintain pH balance. Rinse with warm water and air or pat dry. Another option for 100% pure silicone or medical-grade silicone toys is to run them through the dishwasher. Silicone can tolerate high temperatures so you can also boil it on the stove for 3-5 minutes. If your toy vibrates, remove the vibrating parts before boiling or putting in the dishwasher. If those parts cannot be removed, it is not recommended to clean them that way – use a toy cleaner instead. If you clean the toy by immersing it in the boiling water, make sure you allow the battery compartment cavity to dry out before storing. Once it is dry, store it in an individual sex toy storage bag or plastic bag for best results. Remove the batteries and store them in a separate plastic bag.
  • Blended Materials – Silicone blends are probably the most popular right now. They are porous, but it depends on what is it blended with as to how porous it is. They can contain phthalates. They vary in density – some are very soft, while other blends are much more ridged. They are generally very pliable, but, again, it depends on the percentage of other material that is added to the silicone as to how pliable it is. The advantage of having a blended material is that the material will most likely last longer and less likely to tear or break down.  A condom can be used for safety and easy clean-up. Just toss the condom after use. Make sure not to use a silicone lubricant with a blended toy because it will melt the toy. If you want to use a silicone lube, you can put a condom over your toy first. To clean a blended material toy, stick with the warm water and toy cleaner method. Clean before and after use to prevent contamination and maintain pH balance. Rinse with warm water and pat or air dry. When dry, store in an individual sex toy bag or plastic bag and remove the batteries.

In a future blog post, we’ll explore the other materials and share some special tips.

Lubricant for Sex: Why You Should Try Adding Lube to Your Lovemaking

April 27th, 2010
ID Glide Lube

ID Glide Lube

The most sensual sex is wet sex! Wet sex is easily achieved by using lubricants. We’ll explore the reasons why adding lubricants to your next sexual experience will add a new dimension to your lovemaking that you may not have tried before.  Also, we’ll explain the different issues that can cause problems with producing natural lubrication.

Have you ever suffered from some kind of discomfort because intercourse took place without a sufficient amount of natural lubrication? Many women do and lubricants can help eliminate that problem.

Have you ever run out of natural lubrication during extended intercourse and suffered from a sore spot the next day (men and women both)?  If so, lubricants can help with that situation also.

Have you ever wished that condoms transmitted more sensation? With a lubricant, they can!

Have you have ever suffered discomfort during anal play? Anal lube is essential during anal sex.

Lube is often the most misunderstood, overlooked element in good sex. It is one of the things that can make the biggest difference in your sexual satisfaction levels. Saliva is the world’s most popular sexual lubricant. It’s available everywhere, it’s free, however,  it’s really watery and not very slippery and it is probably one of the most inefficient lubes available. It dries really fast and for pleasure enhancement it is not as effective as a commercial lubricant that was developed for specifically for pleasure.

For a modest cost, sexual lubricants can add a new sensual zing to your lovemaking. Unfortunately, despite the easy availability of lubricants, not many people use them. There was a study done in 1994 at the University of Chicago, and the researchers asked the women participants if lack of vaginal lubrication had been a problem for them in the last year. Almost 20% said yes. By just adding a lubricant, this problem can be eliminated. If 20% of American women are complaining about insufficient lubrication, clearly millions of people are in the dark about lubricants. So why don’t more people use them? Because people think that normal sex involves nothing but the body. As a result, many people consider lubricants unnatural. We say that is nonsense. Lubricants are as natural as any other sexual enhancer such as a candle, soft music, lingerie, a glass of wine, a sexy video, sex toys, etc. Many normal, healthy women don’t produce much vaginal lubrication.

In the 60’s, pioneering sex researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson describe vaginal lubrication as an early sign of a women’s sexual arousal. They maintained that the vagina produces lubrication fairly quickly when a woman becomes aroused. However, for many perfectly normal healthy women, vaginal lubrication takes longer. And when it does, there may not be much of it.  Why not? Here are some reasons why: Just as women vary in height, so does the production of their vaginal lubrication. It’s nothing wrong with the woman; some people just produce more than others, and some just don’t lubricate very well at all.

Let’s look at a few of the factors that cause a difference in lubrication:

  • Age

Age is a huge factor. Estrogen plays an important role in lubrication levels. Estrogen production begins to decline before menopause and many women that had no trouble producing lubrication in their 20’s and 30’s start to notice a decrease in their 40’s and beyond when menopausal changes begin to occur.   After age 50, many women experience a persistent dryness. This is a normal cycle for all women. Even during the course of the menstrual cycle at any age, because estrogen influences the production of vaginal lubrication, women produce different amounts of lubrication at different times of the month.

  • Childbirth

Following childbirth women produce different levels of lubrication. This is, again, primarily due to estrogen, but there are also other issues that take place during childbirth that can some other fluctuation problems.

  • Stress

Every kind of stress, from job hassles to relationships to other tensions can impair a sexual response in both men and women. In men, the result can be an erection impairment, and in women, stress can reduce lubrication. With less lubrication comes less enjoyment.

  • Medications

There are so many over-the-counter and prescription medications that decrease vaginal lubrication. You have to keep in mind that any time the medication decreases your hydration level it is going to decrease the wetness factor all over your body. Some women report that birth control pills reduce lubrication. Antihistamines, cold formulas, and other medications that dry the mouth also impair lubrication.

  • Alcohol, Cigarettes and Marijuana

Most people don’t think of alcohol as a lubrication inhibitor, but it is. So are cigarettes, and marijuana. They can all have similar effects decreasing that lubrication potential.

  • Travel

Primarily travel by airplane. As we know, flying across time zones produces a jet-lag. The pressurization and the dry environment of the plane along with the jet-lag causes extra problems with hydration and can definitely interfere with your lubrication production.

  • Extended Sex

Even women that produce a good amount of natural lubrication, sometimes need help during these ‘marathon’ sex sessions.

Few people understand that some women don’t produce much natural lubrication and those people might not understand any of the above circumstances. Just as a man can love a woman deeply and not be able to have an erection because of diabetes, heart disease, stress or other issues, a woman can love a man and feel very turned on by him but still not produce much lubrication. This is the case especially when they get close to menopause and after menopause when vaginal dryness becomes even more common. If you’re a woman that doesn’t produce much lubrication, mention this to your lover.  Let him know that it is no reflection on him or on your feelings for him. It is just the way you are and it is not a problem if you use a lubricant.

People don’t think a lot about lubrication for men too. According to Masters and Johnson, shortly before orgasm, there is a gland in the penis that produces a few drops of lubricating fluid that moistens the head of the penis and helps it slid into the vagina. It’s true that can happen for some people, but not for everyone. Many of the factors that influence the ability for women to produce lubrication also apply to men. Even at best, it rarely covers any more than just the tip of the head of the penis. Without adding lubrication, the shaft of the penis can become irritated during sex. Also, never expect the natural male lubrication to be enough for any kind of anal exploration. You always need to add extra lubricant or, anal lubricant, for anal play.

In a future blog post we’ll explore the different types of lube that you can choose from and the advantages and disadvantages of each. Check back soon!
