Let’s explore the different types of Dildos & Vibrators…
Dildos can be made of hard or soft plastic, jelly or life-like materials called Futurotic, PleasureSkin or CyberSkin. They can be used like a penis during masturbation or for couple play. They can be stroked and rubbed all over the body, particularly in women, on the vulva and clitoris.
Anal plugs, also called butt plugs, are also a kind of dildo. Some people are comfortable with anal play. Most like to introduce standard size dildos into the anus, but we encourage starting small and working your way up. Anal plugs are usually shorter and thinner than regular dildos and, therefore, they can be more comfortably inserted. Anal plugs typically have a flared base. That flared base is going to prevent the plug from sliding inward. Toys that are designed for anal play are designed to not accidently slip inside because that would be very embarrassing and difficult to retrieve. Also, be sure to use lubrication when using anal products.
Vibrators also come in many different kinds, sizes, shapes and materials like dildos. Vibrators may use batteries, re-chargeable batteries, or they may plug into a wall outlet. They may have one speed or many speeds. They may do several functions at once or just one function. And they may or may not be waterproof. There are a lot of things you need to think about when choosing a toy. They come in lots of different shapes and sizes too. They can be very realistic-looking like artificial penis’ like the popular All American Whopper. There are some larger-than-life artificial penis’ like the Kong Huge Realistic Dildo. There is also g-spot stimulators – usually cylindrical and have a curved end to enable a woman or her partner to reach her gspot. (For more info on the G-Spot, read our G-spot guide)
Ball-top vibrator massagers are usually hand-held wands topped with some type of vibrating ball and they’re about the size of a plum, usually, and they’re excellent for whole body massage. They can be used on the genitals, just be very careful because some of them can go at fairly high speeds. These are usually the type that plug into a wall outlet. A very popular body massager that was featured on Oprah by Dr. Laura Berman is the Aphrodite.
Bullets are a type of mini vibrator and they are called a bullet because they actually look kind of like a bullet. Usually they’re too small to contain the batteries in them, so most of them have a control unit that is wired to the bullet. Vibrating bullets are a good choice for travel. You can slip one inside your panties and get a secret little buzz in social situations and no one would know. Interesting, huh?
In addition to penis-shaped, or cylindrical-shaped toys, you can have double shaft vibes and dildos. They have the end of a penis on each side,
or, a penis and an extra extrusion somewhere, often as a clitoral stimulator like a rabbit vibrator. Then there is the butterfly or vulva hands-free vibrator. Instead of any kind of cylinder, it actually looks like a little butterfly sitting externally on the genital area. It’s more of a flattened shape and it’s really not meant for insertion. It just presses on the vulva and stimulates the whole area - which some women find extremely pleasurable. Some models come with straps that you can put around your thighs and hold them in place so you can use them for solo missions or with a partner.

When choosing your perfect Fleshlight, consider your girth as equally important to length. When erect, the average penis length is approximately 5-6 inches with an average girth (circumference) of approximately 4-5 inches. Refer to the illustration on the left for an explanation of measuring length and girth. Use of a measuring tape is suggested for taking measurements. The correct measurement can make the difference between an enjoyable and non-enjoyable Fleshlight experience. Choosing too small of an insert diameter will result in discomfort during use, while too large of an insert diameter will be a less sensational experience. Ranked from most tight to least tight: Ultra Tight, Super Tight, Wonder Wave/Speed Bump/Super Ribbed, STU, Original. Larger than average men often choose: Original Pink Lady or Speed Bump

The Sex In A Can is a lighter, smaller version of the Fleshlight that makes for easy carrying and storing. The inside canal is a 1/2″ (13 mm) diameter and textured similar to the Wonder Wave, with the waves being fatter and slightly more separated. This is a good change for the frequent user who is well rehearsed with the full size Fleshlight. Not only is the insert tighter, but the orifice is smaller too. The SIAC can easily be controlled with just one hand and it’s decreased weight makes it easier to maneuver and hold for long periods of time. The whole can itself measures about 7 inches (178 mm) in length, compared to the normal 10 inch (254 mm) Fleshlight case. The size of the SIAC makes it favored by less endowed men. An additional difference is that the bottom of the can has a hole in it, not a screw on cap. You can regulate the suction easily by covering it with your finger.
